First Christian Day Services exists to empower adults with disabilities.

First Christian Day Services is a program for adults with developmental disabilities. It’s our mission to enrich and empower the lives of our individuals through person centered planning, community inclusion, and employment.

Programming is available Monday through Friday for those who have graduated high school. It is not a requirement that individuals be enrolled on a Medicaid “IO” (Individual Options), Level 1, or SELF Waiver. Private pay options are available. For questions about program eligibility, enrollment, or to schedule a tour of our campus, contact us below!

Adult Day Support

Our program is founded on five key components - faith, fitness, arts, outings, and employment. Days are scheduled with sessions lasting approximately 45-50 minutes so no one is ever sitting around waiting for something to do!

All individuals are paired with highly skilled, trained, and caring personnel as they participate in enriching activities and experiences. It’s our priority that each person knows they are valued and that his or her unique needs are met with exceptional care.

Focuses of Day Support

We focus on six key areas of growth and development: personal careskill reinforcementself-determinationrecreation and leisure, and path to community employment. Check out our Vocational Habilitation offerings below if you are interested in employment.

Day Support Rooms

The program is laid out according to differing needs:

  • Main Day Program: Designed for those with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.

  • Retirement: Intended for those who no longer desire to work and consider themselves retired.

  • Community Pathways: For those with mild intellectual disabilities who are looking to expand their knowledge of employment in the community.

Vocational Habilitation

FCDS employs adults with mild intellectual disabilities in two main work crews: Housekeeping & Maintenance and Food Service. This program focuses on responsibility, attendance, task completion, problem solving, social interaction, and safety. Work crews also engage in weekly outings and special events.

Our crews are directed by skilled, caring leaders who guide individuals in social skills, communication, and practical work skills. This part of our program provides a training ground and launching pad for community employment. At First Christian Church, individuals are viewed as a valued part of the staff team.

Work Crews

  • Housekeeping & Maintenance: This team takes pride in maintaining offices and restrooms, event set-up and tear-down, minor repairs, interior painting, and general janitorial work throughout the campus. In addition, baseball field upkeep, weeding, mulching, and other exterior needs that round out their paid work experience.

  • Food Service: Assist with menu planning, grocery lists and shopping, meal preparation and delivery. This paid team cooks a health conscious menu with fresh ingredients, accommodating food texture alterations as needed.

Non-Medical Transportation

We prioritize safety and accessibility to and from our program.  Our current fleet employs nine vehicles, including six accessible buses. Every individual is picked up directly at their door—which means no waiting at a designated stop.
