Refuge of Hope
About Refuge of Hope
Danny has spent his life working hard. He used to work on an oil rig, then took a job driving big rigs. When increased competition led to multiple pay cuts, Danny began driving back-to-back 1,000 mile runs just to make ends meet.
Sitting in the cab of a truck for days on end with little sleep led to serious health conditions, and before long, Danny was too ill to continue working. Soon, he could no longer afford to make rent or child support payments.
“A friend told me about Refuge of Hope,” Danny says. “He said this place could help me out and point me in the right direction, so I came, and I’ve been working to get back on my feet ever since.”
Here, Danny has a place to heal. At the Mission, he has a safe place to stay and a caring community that’s helping him start again.
“If you told me I would be in this spot, I would have said, ‘No way,’” Danny says. “Anybody can become homeless, and without this place and the people who give to it, we wouldn’t be here. It’s good to know it’s not just you against the whole world. You might need help too, and if you do, it’s great to know that somebody cares.”
